Dry July and Updates

Haven’t heard from us for a while? We know, we’ve missed you too! We’re back and here to tell you what’s been happening and what you have to look forward to at Padbury Pharmacy in the coming months.

Throwing it back to March, Steve and Kieran (of Alex Junior) took part in the World’s Greatest Shave, raising money for The Leukaemia Foundation. The boys set their sights on a $5,000 goal and with the incredible generosity of the Padbury community, came through with a total of $5,022! On the morning of Friday, March 15th, fearless leaders Steve and Kieran, along with our lovely volunteer hairdressers, parked themselves up outside the two stores and got ready to say goodbye to their luscious locks. We had a great turnout from locals and supporters, and even the infamous Alex Snr made an appearance!

The cause was particularly special to Steve, who shared with the crowd that his own uncle was currently undergoing treatment for Leukaemia. To be able to partake in such a fun and good-spirited event, all in the name of fundraising, was quite the experience for the boys, and it couldn’t have been done without the support of the community.

We hit the ground running in April, with both Easter and ANZAC Day fast approaching. You may have noticed our subtle tribute to past and present Australian veterans with our poppy display. As a pharmacy, we have many Veteran customers who are special to us. In the midst of the Easter excitement, we liked to remind ourselves to stop and take a moment between chocolate eggs to acknowledge the sacrifice that these customers, and all other Veterans made for us.

But of course, how could we forget the egg-citement of the big day. The pharmacy was a buzz with activity this Easter, from kids colouring competitions, to guess the eggs, and even a chance to crack a traditional red egg with Steve for Orthodox Easter. We had some fantastic prize winners, and the works of our future Padbury Picasso’s were displayed proudly for all to see.

May gifted us Mother’s Day, and in case you hadn’t noticed, mums are quite important to us at Padbury Pharmacy. We decided that the mums of Padbury deserve way more than just one day a year, so we turned Mother’s Day into Mother’s Week! We teamed up with Alex Junior to give away a prize a day via our Instagram pages to the mamas who entered in the comments and boy did we have some entries! About 1,279 entries to be exact…

A huge shout out goes to the wonderful local businesses around Padbury who were willing to jump on board with us; Padbury Nails and Beauty, Padbury Florist, Alex Junior Espresso, R’Nay Clothing, and of course the latest addition to our retail space, Café Collective.

Speaking of, if you haven’t explored our new retail space yet, we encourage you to. May also saw the beginning of a beautiful friendship with local business and bespoke gift retailer, Café Collective. Owner Heidi sources some of WA’s most delightful and unique hand-crafted gifts and pieces, bringing them together in our retail space and spoiling us for choice. Trust us that this came in particularly handy for last minute Mother’s Day presents!

June threw us right in the midst of the worst flu season in WA, so naturally our team were busy with flu vaccinations, which we still have available. Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Friday, from 9am till 5pm. Bookings are essential for the weekends so if you’re looking to lock yours in, email us at advice@padburypharmacy.com.au to secure your place. We’ve recently been able to open vaccinations up to include children aged 10 years and older too, so you can also bring the kids by after school for their vaccinations.

While you’re in-store, it’s the perfect chance to sign up to our new and improved loyalty system! Our loyal and loving customers give so much to our Padbury community, and we want to reward your loyalty with some amazing savings and special offers. If you’re an existing LifeClub member, you can have your loyalty card exchanged for no cost in-store when you next swing by.

What did July gift us with? Well, for the second year in a row, Steve took part in Dry July, with a personal fundraising goal of $500… which he totally knocked out of the park! Steve finished up July with a total $682.95 raised in the name of cancer based research and support. From the Cancer Council Australia, to the Leukaemia Foundation, Look Good Feel Better, the McGrath Foundation, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Redkite and more, the money is distributed to those who really need it most, making each dollar even more special. And even though July is well and truly behind us, you can still donate by clicking the link here

Did you participate in Dry July this year too? Why not stop by the pharmacy and share your experience with Steve and the team! If you loved the added health benefits of going alcohol free, speak to our team about which daily products you can incorporate into your healthy living routine to keep the feeling going.

In the theme of new things, you may have noticed that you’re reading this on our new website. We’ve reworked the site to make it even easier to order online, for purchases like Dr Brown’s baby products, and everything complimentary a new parent could need! Plus, did you know we also ship worldwide? To take a browse of our new shop page, click here.

So, there you have it! We’ll call this blog the written equivalent to a Netflix binge, and now you’re all caught up. The rest of 2019 is going to be great for Padbury Pharmacy and we can’t wait to keep bringing you more of the best in our bid to help you find your better. In the sprint to the finish line we fondly call ‘Christmas’ we’ve got some exciting in-store and online events and activations to look out for, including Father’s Day at ‘Dadbury’ (yeah, we did), AFL Grand Final activities, Halloween and of course the festive season!
