Father’s Day!

With Father’s Day only one weekend away, we asked Steve about his favourite parts of being a Dad to baby Alex as he prepares to celebrate his first Fathers Day!

What is your favourite thing about being a dad?

There are so many things, but the best thing is that I get a buddy for life. I wake up everyday to a smiling chirpy bundle of happiness who thinks I’m the centre of the universe. I love a new chapter, but I have a newfound respect for parenthood and the responsibilities that come with it.

Have you learnt anything new since having your own baby?

I have learnt that what happens in theory doesn’t always happen in practice! Having a baby of my own has allowed me to relate to the new mums and dads that I meet on a new level and really connect with them.

What has been the proudest moment so far being Alex’s dad?

My proudest moment so far was seeing that head of jet black hair with a big smile as he greeted the world!

Is there any advice that you received from your dad over the years that you will pass on to Alex?

The most important thing that I have learnt from my dad is that life is about balance and I will pass that on to Alex.

What is the one guilty pleasure that you’d love for Father’s Day?

I would love a new pair of soccer boots for next season, as it will be my comeback campaign after a broken leg!

Its time for the lightening round! What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of these words?

Baby? Alex

Pooey nappy? All over it

Parenthood? Amazing

Bath time? Fun time

Parent Survival secret? Relaxed attitudes & emotions
