We’re Going Pink This January: Supporting the McGrath Foundation
At Padbury Pharmacy, we’ve always believed a pharmacy should feel like part of the community. A familiar place you can walk into for practical support, gentle guidance, and a friendly chat when life feels a little heavy.
That’s exactly why this January, we’re turning the pharmacy pink in support of the McGrath Foundation, and the incredible work they do for people affected by cancer.

Why the McGrath Foundation matters
A cancer diagnosis not only impacts the person receiving treatment. It touches partners, children, parents, friends, carers, and the wider community around them. Questions come thick and fast, emotions can run high, and the healthcare system can feel overwhelming to navigate.
This is where McGrath Cancer Care Nurses make an enormous difference.
Funded by the McGrath Foundation, these nurses provide free, trusted support to individuals and families affected by cancer. They’re there to help with the real-world side of a diagnosis, the parts that often don’t fit neatly into an appointment time slot.
McGrath Cancer Care Nurses can support patients and families with:
-
Emotional support and reassurance when things feel uncertain
-
Practical guidance through treatment and recovery
-
Care coordination, helping people understand what’s next and where to go
-
Someone to talk to, a calm, knowledgeable point of contact when it’s all a lot
Support like this can be life-changing, because it reminds people: you’re not doing this alone.
Our local January campaign (and how you can get involved)
This month, you’ll notice Padbury Pharmacy looking a little more pink than usual, and that’s on purpose.
We’re using January as a gentle community awareness moment to:
-
highlight the support available through the McGrath Foundation
-
encourage breast awareness and regular checks
-
remind locals that support exists for patients, carers, and families
We’re also hosting a Pink Morning Tea at Alex Junior, right next door to the pharmacy, a simple way for our community to come together, share a warm drink, and show support in a low-key, meaningful way.
Even small gestures matter. Wearing pink, starting a conversation, donating if you’re able, or sharing a message of support can help keep awareness and funding moving in the right direction.
A gentle reminder: breast awareness and screening
Breast health can be a sensitive topic, but it’s also one of the most important conversations we can have. A simple self-check at home (getting to know what’s normal for you) can help you notice changes early.
And if you’re due for a screening, BreastScreen WA offers free screening mammograms for eligible women. The appointment is quick, and the team are trained to make the experience respectful and supportive.
If you’re not sure what’s right for you, start with a conversation with your GP, or speak to our team in-store.

We’re here, Padbury
At the heart of this campaign is something simple: care.
Care for our customers. Care for families doing it tough. Care for the nurses who hold people’s hands through the hardest seasons of life.
This January, as we go pink in support of the McGrath Foundation, we’d love you to be part of it in whatever way feels right for you.
If you’d like to learn more about the McGrath Foundation, pop into the pharmacy for a chat, or join us at our Pink Morning Tea at Alex Junior.
Because when our community shows up for one another, it means everything.
